An investigation into the effects of lifestyle factors on physical and mental health in workers

【Objective】
The present researchers have previously examined morbidity associated with lifestyle-related diseases in students of Nagasaki University (aged 18–25 years) and used the results for promoting their health. On the other hand, study about workers of Nagasaki University was not enough. Through analysis of regular health examination data obtained from workers enrolled at Nagasaki University during 2010–2030, this study aims to identify the effects of lifestyle factors on physical and mental health in this population. The study will also attempt to identify specific measures that may aid in the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases.
【Providers of specimens/data】
Wokers undergoing regular health examinations conducted at the Nagasaki University Health Center.
【Study period】
From the date of study approval to March 31, 2030.
【Ethical considerations】
To ensure protection of human rights and compliance with the law, study work will be performed in accordance with the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Health Research Involving Human Subjects. All data obtained will be handled in the aggregate, using mechanical and statistical methods, in a way that does not identify individual participants. All data will be treated anonymously, using identification codes separately linked to participant names. The study database will be securely stored and maintained by the study data administrator at the Health Center, and data will be immediately deleted after conclusion of the study.

To ensure the protection of human rights and compliance with applicable laws, the study will be conducted in accordance with the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Health Research Involving Human Subjects. All data obtained will be handled in the aggregate, using mechanical and statistical methods, in a way that does not identify individual participants.
【Potential hazards or disadvantages to participants】
Data will be entered in electronic format onto secure media stored in a locked cabinet at the Health Center. Participant information will remain confidential, and maximum care will be taken to avoid any potential hazards or disadvantages to participants.
【Compensation for damage to the health of providers of specimens/data】
None
【Method of protecting data, including personally identifiable information】
  • Personal data of study participants will be handled anonymously, using identification codes separately linked to participant names.
  • When study results are published or announced, no descriptions that can be used to identify individual participants will be included.
【Method of storage and/or disposal of specimens/data during and after the study period】
During the study period, data will be stored in a locked cabinet at the Health Center. After conclusion of the study, data will be immediately discarded. Participants may withdraw consent for the use of their data in the study at any time, even after the study has begun. In such cases, participants should contact the person listed below.
